Among the many traditions that define the 104-year legacy of Miss America, few are as iconic as the well-publicized photograph of her “debut”— typically the day after crowning—when the new Miss America jumps into the surf of the Atlantic Ocean, marking the start of her reign with a splash!
Commonly known as the “Miss America Toe Dip,” this tradition symbolized a bold leap into a year of meaningful service and real impact. What began as a lighthearted media moment has evolved into a time-honored rite of passage: joyful, unfiltered, and fearless.
“It’s the splash that’s viewed from coast to coast—Miss America isn’t just making headlines, she’s making waves!” And now, that tradition continues with Miss America 2025, Abbie Stockard.
This year, the Miss America Competition returns to the stage during the legacy September timeframe, reclaiming its’ historic roots and reigniting the tradition, spirit, and energy that have made it a cultural touchstone for generations. This fall, a bold new chapter begins for the iconic American brand, along with a new Brand Ambassador.
With one foot planted in tradition and the other striding into the future, a new Miss America will wear the crown this fall. Ready to serve. Ready to lead. Ready to make waves that matter.
