Madison Marsh might seem like an enigma to those who don’t know her. On one hand, she’s a hard-core U.S. Air Force officer civilian pilot on active duty. On the other, she was just crowned Miss America 2024. But to Marsh, 22 and just engaged, there really is no contradiction.

Miss Colorado Madison Marsh, a second lieutenant in the Air Force, traded her flight helmet for a tiara after she won the Miss America pageant on Sunday night.

Madison Marsh hopes to use her platform to help other women, as well as help find a cure for pancreatic cancer after her mother died from the disease.

CNN — Madison Marsh, a 22-year-old second lieutenant in the US Air Force and master’s student at the Harvard Kennedy School’s public policy program, emerged victorious at the 2024 Miss America pageant in Orlando, Florida on Sunday night. Marsh, representing the state of Colorado, is the first active-duty Air Force officer ever to receive the national title.
Ellie Breaux of Texas placed as first-runner-up.
