Miss America Celebrates Houston’s Creative Community at Houston Arts Alliance Gala

[HOUSTON, TX] September 26, 2026 — Miss America Regan Hutsell returned to her hometown of Houston on Saturday night for a celebration close to home, and close to her own journey as a professional dancer and performer.

Regan attended the Gilded & Golden Gala: Celebrating 20 Years of Houston Arts Alliance at the Thompson Houston, joining Houston’s creative community as Houston Arts Alliance celebrated two decades of strengthening the city’s arts and cultural landscape.

The evening honored Houston native and legendary performer, choreographer, director and producer Debbie Allen as the Golden Trailblazer Honoree. A multiple Emmy Award winner and recipient of the Television Academy’s prestigious Governors Award in 2021, Allen has spent decades shaping American entertainment and inspiring generations of artists.

For Regan, celebrating Houston’s arts community was especially meaningful. A professional dancer herself, Regan began her career on stage and went on to perform with the Radio City Rockettes, becoming the youngest Rockette at the time she joined the company at 18. Her professional dance career has also included performances with Ballet Rhode Island and tours with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, giving her a firsthand connection to the dedication, discipline and creativity that fuel the performing arts.

Now, as the 99th Miss America, Regan returned home to celebrate the artists and organizations helping keep Houston’s creative community thriving.

Houston Arts Alliance serves as Houston’s local arts agency, supporting the city’s creative ecosystem through arts grants, civic art, cultural planning and programs focused on resilience and recovery. The 20th anniversary gala celebrated that work while looking ahead to the next chapter for Houston’s arts community.

For Regan, the evening brought together some of the most meaningful parts of her story: her Houston roots, her career as a professional dancer and performer, and now, her role as Miss America. Returning home to celebrate the arts community that helped shape the performer she is today made the evening a particularly special moment in her first month wearing the crown.
