HOUSTON (CW39) – Houston’s Regan Hutsell has made an extraordinary run from Miss Houston to Miss Texas to Miss America – and she has made history along the way.

Hutsell was crowned the 99th Miss America on Sunday September 6, 2026, in West Palm Beach, Florida, becoming just the fourth Miss Texas to win the national title in the pageant’s 105-year history.

She is also the first Miss Texas to win Miss America since Shirley Cothran in 1975, ending a more than 50-year wait for Texas.

Just three days after Hutsell won the Miss Texas crown, we sat down with her for an interview. At the time, she was preparing to represent Texas on the national stage. Now, she is wearing the Miss America crown.
