[PHILADELPHIA, PA] July 4, 2026 — Miss America Cassie Donegan, Miss America’s Teen Tess Ferm, and 52 state and territory ambassadors from across the nation gathered in Philadelphia to celebrate America’s historic 250th anniversary during the semiquincentennial celebration.
The week began with Cassie and Tess joining the festivities at Wawa Hoagie Day before welcoming state delegates to Philadelphia for an unforgettable week of history, service, and celebration.
Throughout their time in the birthplace of our nation, delegates immersed themselves in America’s story and explored the foundations of liberty and democracy. Their experiences included creating a living Liberty Bell at the National Constitution Center, visiting the iconic Liberty Bell, exploring the Museum of the American Revolution, and attending a Freedom Rising performance.
The celebration continued at the Wawa Welcome America Reception, where delegates had the opportunity to celebrate alongside special guests, including Queen Latifah, before her headlining performance at the Salute to Service Concert at Independence Mall.
When the Salute to Independence Parade was canceled due to extreme heat, the delegates demonstrated the resilience, adaptability, and enthusiasm that define Miss America women. Bringing the tradition indoors, they hosted a special “Show Us Your Shoes” parade, honoring one of Miss America’s most beloved traditions and sharing the spirit of the competition with attendees.
The iconic shoes will make their next appearance during the Miss America Competition in September, where delegates will once again showcase their creativity, individuality, and state stories on the national stage.
Following the Philadelphia celebration, Miss America Cassie Donegan traveled to New York City to perform the National Anthem live on national television during TODAY’s Parade of Sail coverage, officially kicking off the historic celebration from the Hudson River.
As America celebrates 250 years of history, Miss America celebrates 105 years of empowering women to lead with purpose. This once-in-a-generation milestone was a fitting reminder of the organization’s enduring commitment to service, leadership, and the extraordinary women who represent communities across the nation.
A celebration this historic would not have been complete without Miss America!
